Manure Management regarding Nitrogen Compounds
ثبت نشده
چکیده
This chapter considers the emissions of ammonia (NH 3) and nitrous oxide (N 2 O) from the excreta of agricultural animals deposited in buildings and collected as either liquid slurry or solid manure. This includes emissions from animal excreta at all stages: animal housing, manure storage and from land spreading of manures. Excreta deposited in fields by grazing animals are dealt with under SNAP codes 100100 (Cultures with fertilisers) and 100200 (Cultures without fertilisers) in this Guidebook. However, the calculation procedure is part of this chapter.

Manure Management regarding Organic Compounds
VOCs comprise both methane (CH 4) and non-methane volatile organic compounds (NMVOCs). NMVOCs are defined as " all those artificial organic compounds different from methane which can produce photochemical oxidants by reaction with nitrogen oxides in the presence of sunlight " .
متن کاملCattle feedlot soil moisture and manure content: I. Impacts on greenhouse gases, odor compounds, nitrogen losses, and dust.
Beef cattle feedlots face serious environmental challenges associated with manure management, including greenhouse gas, odor, NH3, and dust emissions. Conditions affecting emissions are poorly characterized, but likely relate to the variability of feedlot surface moisture and manure contents, which affect microbial processes. Odor compounds, greenhouse gases, nitrogen losses, and dust potential...

This chapter considers the emissions of ammonia (NH3), nitrous oxide (N2O), other oxides of nitrogen (NOx), carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4), and non-methane volatile organic compounds (NMVOCs) from agricultural soils to which nitrogen (N)-containing fertilizers are applied. For NH3, emissions following application of animal manures to land are considered in SNAP code 100900, Manure Manageme...
متن کاملAerobic and Anaerobic Transformations in Estrogens and Nutrients in Swine Manure: Environmental Consequences
Pig manure is an excellent fertilizer and rich source of organic carbon and nitrogen compounds such organic nitrogen (O-N) (95% of total nitrogen) that is plant-unavailable-nitrogen (PUN) and mineralized nitrogen (about 1% of total nitrogen) such as ammonium (NH4+) and nitrate (NO3) that are plant-available-nitrogen (PAN). In addition, manure also contains two forms of estrogens: (i) poorly est...
متن کاملManipulating Nitrogen in Pig Diets to Reduce Manure Nitrogen Excretion and Odors
The threat of odors emitted from pork production operations in some areas of the country has restricted growth of the industry and has created negative relations with residential neighbors. Odors from manure result from microbial decomposition of the organic matter and nutrients in undigested feed, and normal exogenous end products of cellular metabolism. Reducing nutrient excretions and contro...
